How to compare real-world economy with a reference

Fuel economy = actual distance ÷ actual fuel used
Metric mode reports km/L and L/100km; US mode reports MPG. When using price reversal, the tool first derives fuel used by dividing total refueling cost by unit price.
Driving 420 km and adding 28 L

How to read the result
- A lower L/100 km means less fuel is needed for the same distance, and it is the reciprocal-style view of km/L.
- Use several full-to-full records rather than one refill to reduce the effect of season, traffic, and unusual routes.
Conditions that change the result
- Price reversal assumes total cost and unit price use the same currency and fuel unit.
- The comparison value is user supplied; the calculator does not verify an official rating or road conditions.

- Do not mix kilometers and liters with miles and gallons in one unit mode.

Instrument cluster readouts are software estimates computed from injector pulse width and speed sensor signals, which naturally have minor errors. Aggressive idling, aftermarket wheel sizes (which change tire outer diameter), and sensor drift can cause dashboard metrics to deviate from actual full-to-full manual checks by 5% to 15%.
Q.Can I use this tool for hybrid or electric vehicles (EVs)?
Yes. Hybrid cars follow standard internal combustion guidelines. For battery electric vehicles (EVs), you can substitute liquid fuel units with energy units (kWh). Enter the charging energy added in kWh, the distance in km/miles, and the cost per kWh to compute EV efficiency (km/kWh) and charging expenditures.
Q.Does the calculator support mixed or hybrid unit configurations?
The tool maintains mathematical consistency by standardizing to either Metric (km, L) or US (miles, gallons) systems.
